Anywhere between none and 20. My daughter had four by then, and my son had eight, but I've known children not to break a single tooth until their first birthday, so it can vary quite widely. I put a few links at the bottom to give you a general idea of the order they usually appear, but teething is one of those things that varies greatly from child to child, even more so than most other things.

There is a REALLY big range of normal for teeth. Some get first teeth as early as 3 or 4 months, some as late as 13 months. It depends a lot on genetics. My son didn't have any teeth until his first birthday. He is now 15 months and has 6. A lot of kids we know are already getting their molars. But I didn't get my teeth as a kid till later, and my son seems to be following the same pattern. It's nothing to worry about. Also, it doesn't really affect their eating, because they use their gums at this point to chew things - up until about 2 years. I don't give my son steak or anything like that, but he pretty much eats everything else (and has since before he was one) with no problem.

There are no "shoulds". Every baby develops at a different rate. My 10 month old son has 8 teeth. But at the same age my other kids only had 4. my friend's baby had none till she was over 12 months.

not sure how many they should have...but my daughter just turned 10 months and has had 8 teeth since 8 months and i think she is starting to cut 2 more...I don't think its anything to worry about even if she has no teeth though.
