I don't know about the Beatles being the greatest or the best band ever. They certainly were some of the most influential songwriters of our times. As musicians, they were not all that gifted, but they didn't need to be, as they played simple catchy tunes. As they grew in experience, they became more daring in the scope of their work and its presentation. They challenged their peers and the establishment of the time. They stopped singing sappy love songs, such as I want to hold your hand, and started singing about edgy, cool things. They explored many different styles, and have an incredibly diverse and eclectic catalogue. But it took me 47 years, and being away from the Mersey for nigh on 30 of those years, to discover that.

Of course not. I'm 44 from California, and think the Beatles are, in addition to being the most influential band in all of rock, pretty great.
Doesn't matter what type of music you fancy, just as long as you can accept that other people think they are great.

My friend you and some of the other people who answered your question have no taste in music.
The Beatles are the best rock and roll band that ever was.
And most people on earth would say the same.
They paved the way for so many artist that have made it big.

All you're 'supposed' to like is whatever is to your taste! Personally my tastes are quite eclectic, from nirvana to Pavarotti, Johnny Cash to mmmmmmmmmm? The Beatles! Yeah like them quite a bit!

What do you mean by crap? Lennon/McCartney were one of the best song writing and gifted duos of our time. You`d be suprised what they wrote for other performers. A lot of their own earlier recordings were on mono, which isn`t the best sound. They also played their own instuments! You don`t recognise talent.

dont you know any thing about guitar chords..they are not crap, they play some of the hardest chords of any of the bands out there ok...They brought the world some brilliant chord seqences as you obviously are not aware...sorry. i'm only voicing my opinion and i know you have a right to yours.....
