I agree with Brittany, but I think it needs to be in moderation. Someone (mother, sister, aunt, etc) needs to show them how to put very light makeup on w/ natural colors.
Perhaps at that age, just a little mascara and tinted lipgloss. This way, a young girl feels she is somewhat made-up and special, without looking silly.

Embrace good skin while you have it, wait for foundation/coverup until y ou get acne, if you ever do. But a little shadow, blush, and lipgloss at about 13 or 14 isn't a big deal.
When you're 30 you will wish you DIDN'T have to wear makeup.

I have a 12 year old daughter who likes experimenting with makeup at home. I haven't allowed her to wear any to school yet, except for lip gloss. Next year she will be starting Junior High (7th grade) and if she asks, I will probably allow her to wear a little eye shadow and mascara. I just don't want her to think that she needs it to be pretty.

I tried it one day when i was about 10 -red lipstick and all and thought i was looking fine until i got home that evening and the dog did not even recognize me at all and started barking. I ran inside and did not wear it again until i was 15 and then only light power and pale pink lipstick. I seldom wear make up now-even thought i can wear it any time i like. When you start to wear it say 15-16 go light-don't over do.

My mom bought me makeup when I was 12 in the beginning of 7th grade.
I can't say I started REGULARLY taking the time to put it on until midway through my sophomore year (15-16)
I'd say 8th grade or the beginning of high school.
