I had a LEEP in 2005 and my ob/gyn said that it can cause problems during pregnancy - to the tune of weakening the cervix. I got pregnant in December and miscarried at 5 weeks - but I called my dr's office and they were not concerned that the LEEP had anything to do with it - my HCG hormone levels were low at my blood test. The doc did mention that when I become pregnant, he will want to monitor the condition of my cervix throughout the pregnancy - if there are weakening problems, they can put a stitch in it to reinforce it.

Ive had two children, then had the LEEP done in 04 and i became pregnant in 06 and im now 25 weeks pregnant. I have heard that is lessens your chance of becomming pregnant, and i could guess that it probably can cause you to miscarry at a higher rate, They are messing with your cervix. Thats just my guess, but like i said im 25 weeks with baby number 3. Im very high risk and have been with all three of me pregnancies and never carry to term. But i have never had a miscarriage. Goodluck i hope you find your answer :)

Most of the time, it's not a problem, but for some people, depending on where on the cervix or how much tissue has to be removed, there can be problems later on. Usually these can be treated with a circlage (a stich to hold the cervix closed which is released later in a pregnancy) but the only way to tell for sure what's going on, is to talk to your doctor or health care provider.

I was scheduled to have a LEEP done in 1997...I found out before the appt. that I was pregnant. Carried the baby to full term, then had it done. I have gone on to have successful pregnancies each time with no complications (like weak incompetent cervix or miscarriage)....in fact I carry them all overdue, and as of yesterday NO dilation and no effacement with this many pregnancies under my belt...

I don't know if there is a link but I had the same situation happen to me. Though I never connected the two. Thanks for the insight. Though I did eventually get pregnant. Keep your head up it will happen.
