The front edge of the infant seat can hang over the seat a bit. At least 80% of the base of the carseat must be on the seat of the car. Remember, car seats are not allowed in the center of a Blazer. Also, if you have any infant seat except an Evenflo, Baby Trend or Cosco/Safety 1st/Eddie Bauer you may leave the handle up. Those three REQUIRE the handle be placed in the down position. Graco and Chicco permit the handle to up and Combi requires the handle be left up.
The base of the seat should not move more than one inch side to side. Movement at the top is normal. If your vehicle is older than 1997, you must use a locking clip on a lap/shoulder belt.

I have a 2000 Blazer that we have the car seat in and it is rear facing....we have to put the front seat almost all the way up because the handle extends so far, and I sit in back with baby so I am not in the windshield....I don't think rear facing seats fit very well in the blazers. The seat is supposed to be at a 45 degree angle and it looks like it sits straight up. I got a kiddopotomus snuzzler thing from target.com and it keeps my baby snug in the seat so he is not flopping all over the place. He is only 9 days old though.......I hope that answered what you were asking......I dont think the backseats of the blazers are any good for car seats.....I hate that I cant put the seat in the middle too.

Yes it looks like they will tip over but they don't. It is strapped in too tight. I have a 1998 Chevy blazer and it does NOT fit more than 2 car seats so you will have to think of another car when you decide to have more (IF you do.) Hope this helps.
