You can't possibly convince hershe doesn't WANT it, but you can convince her that it is a waste of money. I used to have mine pierced by the way. Does she like wearing make-up? Well it's kind of hard to put make-up on with something stuck to your nose. It's also painful to blow your nose, at least it was for me. Plus there's the career aspect, does she have a job? Does she plan on having a job in the future? The only places that really allow you to have facial piercings are factories. Some factories are even not allowing facial piercings. Good luck.

***Comment back to the other poster...lol. A friend of mine tried to get a job at our local hospital and they told her they don't allow facial piercings. She also got fired from lowes because she wouldn't take it out. I think it may just depend on the place of employment but places are weird so who knows...lol

I don't see a big issue with nose piercing. Plus its not like she is 13 asking you. The thing you can bring up is some buisnesses do not allow piercings so it may be hard to get certain jobs. Most realize these days though that people are pierced. I would just let he get it done. I see nothing wrong with them. There really isnt too much of a stigma these days about people who have piercings. Most people do not even notice

***I had a nose piercing. Yes its a pain when you need to blow your nose I will agree... I never got a scar from it, so saying that she will get a scar from it is not entirely accurate and if she takes care of her piercing she will not get an infection. Nose piercings are least likely to get infections and my nose never got swollen like someone claims on here. This is all stuff from people who probably are not pierced.. I work for a Corporate mental health facility and they allow facial piercings so to say only factories let you is not accurate. As long as they are small many companies do not mind nose piercings

tell her about the scar.
let her know it will be real messy when she has a cold.

You could always find an ear clip and right before she comes home stick on YOUR nose and tell her you got your own nose pierced first. Then take her out to the mall or something. If she doesn't care about your new "nose ring" then you just aren't going to stop her. Then let her show her rebellious ways with the piercing.

After all, would you rather have to take her to a doctor because her piercing is infected or have to visit her at a rehab clinic because she chose to do drugs instead? You should be more interested in her reasons (she just wants to do it or is she being pressured from peers who also take part in activities you should be much more concerned about such as drugs, alcohol and unprotected sex?).

my best friend was 18 when she got her nose pierced and thought that she wanted it sooooo bad, but she ended up taking it out after a month. first of all i would start off by explaining to her that its very painful, its so close to your eyes ah how couldnt it be a painful piercing. secondly, its a hard piercing to keep uninfected. and while youre cleaning it it hurts. lastly she might not even like the way it looks on her and then just have a painful hole in her nose when all is said and done. if i were you i would tell her that if she wants it so bad then she can wait until she's 18 and then get it pierced. GL!

honestly, the more you try to persuade her to not do it, the more she is going to try and get it. When I was a senior in high school, I pierced mine myself at a sleepover, and by the time my mom found out, there was no reason to take it out. She is going to turn 18 at some point and then, legally, u can't stop her, but trust me, it is just a phase and she will grow out it and take it out. You just have to ride the wave. Have a little fun with it. If she gets her nose pierced, get your belly button pierced, or get tattoos together, and then, she will be so freaked out that she may not want to do anything like that anymore! It might work, it's worth a try...!

ok a nose piercing does not leave a "ugly" scar. i have my nose pierced and it is not have a hideous scar, u cant even see the hole. and really its not a big deal i got my nose pierced at the age of 14 with my mothers permission she actually got it pierced with me. right now im 18 . its not a big deal of having that peirced. and by the way she is going to turn 18 soon so legally she could do it herself.

personally its not a big deal

Well if she has any allergies what so ever to jewelry.. she may want to think twice. This can be painful and if it gets infected it will look awful, especially at the nose. Ouch! Also make her wait til she is 18 at least.. maybe she'll change her mind by then. It is still "your" nose til she is legally of age.. lol. Good luck.

I'm 17 and got another hole into my ear last year and Im trying to let it grow in she might regret it latter but it's a little hard as I'm realizing for it to grow in latter. So just try remind her that it wont grow in latter a lot of the time no matter how long you leave a piercing out if it.

Sorry, but I don't see it as a big deal. I mean, it's a lot better than her wanting to pierce her ear a hundred times or pierce between her eyebrows. Consider yourself lucky, that it's just a tiny hole in her nose ... that will be almost unnoticeable, should she decide to let the hole close ... when she's older.

you cant convince her she does not want to get it pierced. Teenagers are going to do what they want to do. Maybe you can go to Claire's in the mall and buy stick on diamond studs and clip on rings and show her what it looks like. She may not like it. She may like the idea of having the clip on without having to pierce her nose.
