The moisture here is high...I have some rust on upper thread guides causing bad tension. I have had the sewing machine for years now, and never oiled it. Can anyone help? I have my 3 in 1 oil ready, lol.

It depends on the make and model of your machine. If you still have the owners manual, the instructions will be in there.

DO NOT USE WD-40 !! If your machine has any plastic parts inside this could hurt them. Stick to your 3 in 1 or better yet stop and get some real sewing machine oil. Yea, the holes are ok but look and see which parts move and this is where you want to put the oil. Where they rub togeather. I'm a sewing machine tech. Carefull not to over oil or you will collect a lot of dirt and lint etc. causing you problems. A drop or two is plenty. Also get a can of air and blow out the bobbin case area and anywhere you can reach. Good luck.

Use WD-40. It has additives that prevent rust.

Remove the covers and carefully apply the oil to all moving parts. Manually rotate the main gear shaft to make sure the oil coats all surfaces.

Apply oil to the shaft that moves the needle, the tension adjusters and the spool holders.

Once you're done you might want to run some scrap fabric through the machine to soak up any excess oil.

There should be small holes on the base and the top of your machine where you deposit some oil.
