Won't kill us, but in polite society, you follow the rules. The internet rule for conversations is that small letters mean a normal tone. Capital letters only mean you are screaming.

Don't worry, I'll "clam down". It's considered rude to use capital letters because it signifies yelling.

Writing in allcaps is yelling/screaming. It's only proper writing etiquette not to do that and shows that you're not up to par in your writing skills. Also, it's rude to keep doing it especially when you know it annoys others.

BECAUSE IT IS EXACTLY LIKE YOU'RE SREAMING AT US (WHATEVER SREAMING IS SUPPOSED TO BE). EVERY FORM OF COMMUNICATION HAS CERTAIN NORMS AND EXPECTED BEHAVIORS THAT ALLOW THE SPEAKER AND LISTENER TO UNDERSTAND THE MESSAGE. WHEN YOU FLAUNT THOSE CONVENTIONS, YOU FAIL AT COMMUNICATING, GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200.

It's hard to read, and in an electronic world where we can't hear voices, it is the equivalent of yelling. Learn to use the shift key. It doesn't hurt, I promise.

People get mad because most people find it really annoying and harsh on the eyes. It often makes them think you are screaming or being harsh towards them and it makes them feel uncomfortable.
