I don't know what it is, because it doesn't happen very often. I would think that the water is too hot and because the space is small, maybe that was why. But it doesn't happen all the time, so is it me, or something else? To make things worse, it happened to my boyfriend too, so what does that mean?

You could be very sensitive to chlorine like I am. Some areas, like Western Michigan where I used to live, put way too much chlorine in their tap water for sterilization purposes. If they are working on the water lines in your area they could be occassionally "shocking" the water with higher doses of the chemical. When you run the water, especially in the shower, the liquid chlorine is released as gas -- you can smell it (like Clorox bleach). Chlorine is toxic, even deadly, at high concentrations. Some people are much more sensitive to it than others, like me -- I get stomach cramps when I drink chlorinated water and it dries out my hair and skin terribly when i bathe in it. I have become nauseated when showering with it in a badly ventilated room.

You can get test kits to see how much chlorine is in your water. If it's high, filter your tap water with a Brita or Pur filter and, for your shower, you can buy a filter that mounts on the shower head that will take out almost all of the chlorine (your hair and skin will be much softer.) They sell them at the Real Goods website catalog. Good luck!

If this is happening in the morning, try eating a healthy breakfast first. You could be getting faint from low blood sugar.

You need ventilation. Try keeping the door open or using cooler water.
