I don't think it's unique. It's a choice I've made and I'm happier this way. Anyone can make choices about their lives and stick to them.

Thanks for the offer but I'll pass.

Do you know the power of negative thinking? It is more
powerfull than positive thinking:

(Tony Humphreys, The power of negative thinking,
Gill & Macmillan Ltd., Goldenbridge, Doublin, U.K.)

"Our two minds .... One is an act of the emotional
mind, the other of the rational mind. In a very real
sense we have two minds, one that thinks and one that
feels" (Daniel Goleman, Emotional Intelligence,
Bloomsbury Publishing, London, 1996, page 8). This
rational mind is also called the faculty of logic and
reason. The rational mind is called the positive thinking
mind and the emotional mind is called negative
thinking mind. Using logic and reason in all our
activities appears very logical. But the very process
of logic has its own limitations:

In the 1930s, Austrian mathematician Godel proved a
theorem which became the "Godel theorem" in cognition
theory. It states that any formalized 'logical' system
in principle cannot be complete in itself. It means
that a statement can always be found that can be
neither disproved nor proved using the means of that
particular system. To discuss about such a statement,
one must go beyond that very logic system; otherwise
nothing but a vicious circle will result. Psychologist
say that any experience is contingent - it's opposite
is logically possible and hence should not be treated
as contradictory.

The Upanishads call the emotional mind as Chitta.
The following are the charateristic features of Chitta:

Chitta is the component connected with intuition and
emotion. Modern psychologists say that passions have
the same limitations of senses as they tend toward
immediate emotional discharge. Chitta is the quick
acting component of the mind which can be termed as
leftist or negative thinking part. It is called
negative because some psychologists felt that it
separates the received information into pieces,
contains unintentional and contradictory ideas, and
lacks internal organisation, inner consistency, and
concrete solutions. On the contrary, some philosophers
thought that this is the 'idealistic view' of thinking
about a problem. Chitta is connected with instincts,
urges, impulses, desires, emotion, imagination,
sentiments, passions, caring, pleasure, exploration,
unconventional ideas, moods, insight, superstitions,
immodesty, immorality, analysis of details, concern
about particular features, capacity to find novel
relationships, unrestrained expressions connected with
body or mind, molding of past experiences into new
constellations of meanings, creation of artistic,
poetic and musical works and the like. Seeing a good
work of painting or listening to music of one's liking
will set waves of emotion in Chitta. It helps us to
imagine things in new ways. It is known that lighter
side of life like fun may contain silly and ridiculous
situations. An artist is said to go to the extremes to
divorce himself from environmental constraints.

Can't say a lot of times but it surely brings a feeling of self-worth, independancy, hope. You can either choose to live life by thinking of the consequences or move forward and take it in a right spirit. Let me give you an example:- If on a certain important day, say exam day, you do a really bad paper and are depressed and somebody says you are going to fail and the other says to work hard next time. What do you think is better? Regretting doing a bad paper or preparing for the next.

Yes, every minute. It makes me a happier person. I was never a person with negative thinking but yes there were days when I used to be sad or low. And then two things happened in my life in the year 2004. First, Indian Hindi movie (I am an Indian) 'Kal Ho na Ho' which means 'Tomorrow might not come' or lets say 'If tomorrow comes'.......lolz This movie made me realize that we at times dont give full respect to our one precious life. We should celebrate it every time & I dont mean pepsi, pizza or beer can but yes doing things we really want to do or to pick small-small pieces of happines in whatever we are doing even if thats not what we wanted to do. Ever since then I have become a stronger person and have more hold on positive thinking.
Second was a turning point. I got conceieved. And since a child never asks to be born, its our decision so I did everything which I could to always remain calm, active & happy during my pregnancy period to give the best base to my baby. My baby was born days after due date & I was told by my gyneac it is because I kept him warm & cozy that he never wanted to leave me. I owe it to positive thinking. And yes, my 27 months old baby is still a mama's baby but my positive thinking approach is telling me not to worry for he will be on his own sooner or later.

Yes! I've experienced the power of positive thinking. I'm from Canada by the way...

I used to be very negative. I expected bad things to happen & they did. I didn't believe in myself. I didn't like myself. I shut myself off from the world.

Then something happened...I started to think more positively. I started to believe in myself. I decided to buy a house. I was terrified at the idea of finally leaving my parents' house & getting my own place. Financially & emotionally it seemed overwhelming. But I went to the bank & got pre-approved for a mortgage. I started looking & fell in love with a brand new detached house that was actually in my budget! It was in a new community. It was scary for me but I believed in myself. I ended up getting a new job in my new town. A friend told me about a bar for songwriters to play & sing. I started going & still go every Monday. I even got my picture on the front page of the paper when I was involved in an event there! I have also been showing my artwork in various shows & have sold a few paintings. At the bar where I perform, I ended up meeting Mr. Right. He's a fellow songwriter & he's a sensitive, artistic Taurus like myself.

It's strange how things have just fallen into place! But it's because I started believing in myself, liking myself & following my dreams. I decided to follow my destiny & the universe responded. When I was hiding in a shell, I wasn't really living. Once I started taking risks & being positive, coming out of my shell, wonderful things began to happen.

Anyone can find happiness. The key is just to know yourself, love yourself, love others & the world around you, look for the beautiful things in life, go after your dreams. Believe & all things are possible!

:)

Hi,
I'm from India--Positive thinking really helps u a lot.
Positive thinking is the only remedy during times of distress.
There r times when I feel so depressed when things don't work my way,but the power of positive thinking makes me divert my mind & I think of all the good things that have happened to me in my life. During difficult times ,whatever is going on in ur subconscious mind will happen. Negative thoughts depress u & positive thoughts gives u confidence-Yes ,I have experienced it.
