I think it's very important to self-motivate and educate ourselves. We must want to make a difference in ourselves and the world. Hang around positive people, people who want to change the negative image of youth. It can be done ( not over night) Their are many youth who are doing positive things to change the world and better themselves as well as the overall image of youth today...it's a process.

"if we fail to change, we fail to grow, and if we fail to grow"...

phew..that's a scary though...

Become more environmentally aware. It doesn't have to be in a big..earth saving event...even the small things. If you see a piece of trash on the ground...pick it up. If not the planet how about the people on it...hold the door for an old person...thank you and please are simple politeness that I seldom see in youth. There are many opportunities for the younger generation to become involved with...just find them and do it. People will notice.

the best thing for you to do is to look around you and see what needs to be improved around your school and community. what i did when i was in high school was create a diversity program to promote inclusion and teach that bigotry and racism is wrong and will not be tolerated. this was due to a problem that we had at out high school due to violence and i seen that someone needed to step up and take charge. as a result of this program. we got to meet with 350 other school districts and compare and contrast ideas of the programs that they had at their schools. at my school, as a result of this program, violence dropped 25% and attendance was up and there was an all around better environment for everyone there. however, that is what i did. you can do anything that you and others alike want to do to make a difference. even something small as volunteering in a soup kitchen can make a difference in someone's life. just look around and observe. talk to people too. one person can truly make a difference. it is never too late to start. good luck.

I'm sure the elders that think youths are useless were once youths who had edlers think the same of them. It's a stupid cycle.
