What's your definition of an American idol?

Brintey Spears is American and she's many young young girls idol.....could she have won the show?

I think there are too many varying definitions for the vote to appease everyone because i sure as hell choked on my dinner last nite when Sabrina was voted off.

We should Idololize the people who preach for a better life (Jesus) or the people who cure cancer or help poor people. not someone that can sing a song.
