It's so annoying when people come up with idiotic spellings for usual names. People think if they spell a usual name in an unusual way, it will make it special. I think it just makes the name look stupid. Worst one I've ever heard...

Jennifer spelled as...

Jenyphr

GIVE ME A BREAK!

I am not trying to offend anyone or make them feel stupid by voicing this opinion. There are other things that are more important, but this is just one of those little naggy things that I hate.

I actually saw Nicole spelled Nackhole. Holy stinkin' cow!

I opted for a slightly unusual spelling - my son's name is Braeden. Since his name is fairly new on the popularity charts and is spelled so many ways, I've become accustomed to people misspelling it. His sitter still spells it Braedon, and I just don't stress about it. As long as they don't call him Brady, I don't care if they spell it wrong! LOL

A little variation is fine, but sometimes people just go way overboard.

Yes it annoy me too. That does not even come close to pronounce Jennifer. I have no idea what that is. People spell the name it pronounce like my real name Mattimus. Just spell the usual names the way it pronounce. Those people come up with idiotic spellings for usual names to make it special are idiots.

I'm right there with you!!! I'm sick to death of weird names and weird spellings...it sounds ridiculous! What's wrong with normal, classic names that people can spell and pronounce??? These parents think they're being unique and creative but it makes me sorry for the poor kids...especially once they grow up never hearing their name pronounced correctly and then they're 80 years old with a crazy name. The name "Preshyous" sure won't seem so precious on a 50 year old, or a 22 year old trying to get a job at a law firm.

I know, it absolutely gives me hives.

I'm a big fan of 'real' names - they don't have to be boring. You can find cool names with a literary or historical connection, or maybe there's a family name you want to honour. But naming your child something they will have to spell out and pronounce to people for the rest of their lives seems like a bit of a burden! Before you sign that form, ask yourself - are you picturing people saying 'what an unusual name YOU picked?' Or is it really a comfortable name for a kid to use...?

well, now I feel stupid. LOL, I spelled my oldest two sons names, Dilyn and Dustyn. They were in the name book and I just thought it was cool. My next son was Ayden. We have a little trend going on. I don't know why it would bother you how my kids names were spelled. I am the dumb one that did it and now I am the one that has to spell their names every single time I make an appointment or sign them up. Since noone knows how to spell them. I at times regret it now, but I still like the way it looks. But you don't have to deal with it. I guess I just look at the bright side of everything and there are so many really bad things going on in this world, that I don't let the little ones bother me.

ABSOLUTELY! My niece is named Emily which is a beautiful name. But my dumb sister in law chose to spell it Emaleigh. The kid will have to constantly spell it her whole life! I hate made up names too. What ever happened to Michelle and David and such. People need to take into consideration that this is a person’s moniker for the rest of their life! If you want to name them something goofy why not just call the kid it as a nickname and give them a real name?!

First of all I am not a hardline person....
Cool ro have a name like that because its differnt from the strict society... In a free country everyone should have the freedom to do what ever they want as long as they don't harm anyone by doing so.
Well, what's the harm of writing a name like that? FREE SPEECH AND PRESS... Think about it! world would be a better place to live with bad spellings....

It definitely takes being different to the extreme. Just like some of the celebrities who name their children these wild names. I mean come on...Apple, and her brother Noah...Biblical references there for sure. Hazel and Phineas, what was Julia Roberts drinking during her pregnancy? How about Neaveh? Ok, it's clever, but really come on it's not even a name. Oh and my personal favorite, naming your child for the place where they were conceived. Being different isn't always good. Sometimes it's just being ignorant.

Its funny to me that now, with all the crazy spellings of names, that even if you have a common name, that is spelled the "proper" way, you are asked how it is spelled because people dont want to assume the spelling anymore.
