Even if a bill passes both the House and the Senate, Bush would veto it, so they need a 2/3 "veto proof" majority.
Having said that, yes, McConnell is a very effective leader. Too bad there were not more of them before the elections! Then again, it's easier to corral 41 than 51, let alone 60.

Let me see, when the republicans had control of the House and Senate, northing got done, unless of course it fit there agenda. In fact, the 109th Congress took the most vacations of any Congress in history. So now your all hyped up because once again the republicans are afraid of debate and are afraid of getting things accomplished in America and you consider this a good thing? How pathetic.

I think he's done very well, as Senate majority leader.
As whip he made me mad, when he suggested removing Alexander Hamilton from the $10 bill, and putting Reagan on it. If were going to change people on currency, FDR should come off the dime, and Reagan should go on.
