Try Brick & Patio cleaner form hard ware stores ie B&Q it works, push toilet brush down the loo a few times to have less water in the pan & fill with the B & P cleaner to above the limescale line it will fizz like mad but will clean it in minutes.

Use to remove any Lime scale around taps etc.
Good luck

You probably won't be able to get it all done in one session but time and patience will help. Be sure to get all the water out of the bowl so it doesn't neutralize the cleaning product then cover the stain with something like LImeAway and let it sit for a while. when you return, flush the toilet to refill and scrub with the brush....a pumice stone will help work the edges of the deposit loose. Keep at it over a series of sessions and eventually you should get it all off. KaBoom and the Works have worked well for me too but I get the best results from Limeaway.

Unfortunately there are no dollar stores in the UK, but I would recommend using something called brick cleaner. It is a strong acid and not actualy made for the purpose you have mentioned. Just go into any builders merchants, Jewsons, Wickes, B & Q and ask for a brick acid.

Be aware that this is a very strong product!!! Do not splash it! Or get it in your eyes!! Read all the labels and store it properly!! Use it correctly and a 5 ltr container will last you 10 years.

hi ,

i used the named brand called "harpic 100% limescale remover"

i was wary at first because it was a bit expensive but bought it anyway ! when i got home i made sure the toilet was flushed and clean , i poured it round the rim and anywhere i thought needed it (like where the water sits) , left it for a good hour or 2 and went in with rubber gloves and a good old scouring sponge and hey presto lime scale had gone !

i recommend it to anyone.
you may have to pay that bit more but it is worth it and i have used it ever since.!!!

Pick up a limescale remover from a local DIY store, but honestly for ease if you can find one to match replace the toilet and sell the old one to a salvage yard. That way you can start from scratch

There is a commercial grade product called Foamy Q & A. It is acid based and is available at plumbing stores and paper stores. It takes limescale, rust, hardwater stains, virtually everything off toilets, sinks and showers.

Ask a plumbing engineer what products cleans limescale from boilers. I know this cleans the limescale from a toilet, as I've seen a plumber do this, and it worked really well.

Try heating up some white vinegar and pouring it on the limescale. Heated vinegar desolves mineral deposits very well. You may have to apply it a few times to get all of the deposit removed.

Flat coke is a brillinat one for this also a prodcust called TD10 - i have no idea where you can buy it from but it used to be something that you could only get if you were a contract cleaning company but have a serach for it .

oh i found it - http://www.capitalonline.biz/shop/product.php?printable=Y&productid=16575&cat=312&bestseller

Also some little old fashioned iron mongers usually have remedies for this kind of thing.

Borax and white vinegar made into a paste and left on onvernight also shifts this stuff.

CLR is the strongest product I know of. Let it sit on the toilet overnight in a soaked cloth to really penetrate into the scale. It won't harm the porcelain underneath.
