I think so. I'm at college right now and while I don't claim to have the best manners and occasionally wear pj's to class I've seen a lot of people who have no respect at all. Especially among the young men. Since when is it acceptable to whistle at a girl from your car while she is walking to class? I had a class with a blind proffessor and there were 50 or so people in the class but most of them would just show up, sign the paper and leave. It's not like he couldn't hear the door close! So unless people were this disrespectful in former years then yes, we have worse etiquette than before.

I agree. There are students who treat college like high school. They have the attitude that they "have" to be there because their parents told them "either go to college or move out." And so these parents pay their children's way through college and as a result, the kids don't take it too seriously. I've seen this happen a lot.
However, students who pay their way through college and are there to actually learn seem to be more professional in a college setting, have more respect for professors and colleagues, and often succeed.

yes, if you go back about 50 years there is a notable difference in the behavior and dress of college students. there is also a notable difference in the kinds of people who can get into college, because they are not allowed to discriminate due to sex or nationality anymore. more people are going to college now.

As a past college student, and current resident of a college town, yes! But no more than in the society in general, where the focus on self has overridden thoughts of what is in the interest of others. "If I did it, it must be okay!"
