depends on how old you are and if you will continue to grow, if you are at the vertical limit, you should reconsider football, and think about football (soccer)

At 5'8" I'm assuming you're going into high school. Middle linebacker needs to be quick enough to cover guys coming across the middle and strong enough to stop running backs. For this age, size, and position I'd say you should be between 150 to 175 lbs. I wouldn't want you to be much bulkier at this level.

My little brother is 5'8 and plays the middle linebacker position for his high school varsity team. He weighs around 200lbs. and can bench over 250lbs. I think if you stay around that weight you could be a good linebacker. But you gotta work out not weigh 200lbs and be fat and slow. You gotta be committed to working out. Good luck.

If you're playing Pop Warner, then you might be able to play MLB in the 150-160 range. High school, I would recommend closer to 200, and if you're in the pros, very few MLBs can be successful at anything less than 225-230 or so. Hopefully, you'll hit a growth spurt and get to at least six feet, because most KICKERS in the NFL nowadays are taller than 5'8''. Good luck.

linebacker... how fast can u run? it dont really matter ur size ive seen a 5'6" middle linebacker that was like 165 lbs and mean as can be just fly around and really wanna hit people...and ive seen 6'2" 250lbs guys that were wuss's and didnt wanna get hurt.... so instead of ur size id work on ur speed and tenacity....but if u have those... id say 200ish of muscle dont just bulk up on burgers or somethin

at least 200 lbs, and that would be on the light side.
Also, you are lacking a little bit in height to be a linebacker. If you have good speed, think about cornerback or safety.

You talking about high school or College and if its college are you talking about D-1 or 1-AA
In high school you can play MLB at 180-200 with no problem depending on the size and competition of your school
In 1-AA you can reasonably play at 215-235 and D-1 you need to be 235-255 with tons of speed

be a corner or safety with that size or go to offense maybe a runningback or a wide reciever. 5-8 for linebacker should be at map 150ish.

if ur playin center linebacker in highschool in the college point you may probablly be between one hundred ninety-240 and a superb forty time may be like a 4.6, and you'll be explosive, and a bad concepts-set

We dont know your age. That makes a big difference. Have you ever played football? I mean on a team with pads and stuff? You should know these things if you have. Age makes a difference freshman, jv or varsity. I cant tell you without this information. Peace out................
