I wrote an English paper about that... It was more of a Post Modern study though...

I think it could be anthropology or sociology... It depends on what angle you look at. If you are looking at superheroes and how they relate in their worlds, it would be more anthropological. Example - Batman's existence in Gotham City. If you look at how superheroes defy/follow/create social norms, it would be more sociological. Example - How Superman lives a double life.

I think it could be either, especially since the lines between cultural anthropology and sociology can be hard to draw. In general, anthropology deals with more art forms, religion, and culture, and sociology has more of an emphasis on the institutions that make a society operate, so the comic books might be a little more of an anthropology study.

I'd say sociology. after all they are made up in our heads and they represent a social stature.

It depends how you did it. It could also fall under history or literary studies.
