I'm 40 weeks and 3 days and today at my doctor's appt. he was really rough and now I'm bleeding, what exactly did he do? Is that stripping the membranes? He moved his fingers back and forth and it hurt REALLY bad. He said that I would be guaranteed to go into labor by the weekend Has anyone else had this happen and go into labor?

the doctor didn't tell me what he was doing, he said from checking me I would spot a little, but I've been bleeding A LOT!

i have never had that happen, but what the doctor probably did was a more natural way to induce labor. id say call him and let him know whats going on and see what he says. you can even ask him what he did exactly at the appt to ease your mind.

Yes. I had an exam with my third and fourth like that, where I ended up bleeding afterwards. He didn't strip the membrane, but he told me before the exam that by checking my cervix (sp? sorry), and being so far along, that that could happen, but not to be alarmed, and that it can sometimes cause labor. It did cause labor for me within a week with my third child, but nothing with my fourth.

What a jerk you have for a doctor...he's supposed to tell you about procedures like that before he does it.
I'd kick him in the face next time I see him!
It sounds like he as stripping the membranes. What a jerk. He should've warned you it would hurt!

well by your question i was going to ask if he stripped your membranes, which i really think he did, although he should have asked you before doing such a thing, and with his remark id say he did, but if he didnt mention or bother to ask, well id be really mad....
