I am working on a business plan; what can I expect to earn for this business per hour if I work by myself in Illinois?

Also, what do the cleaning chemicals cost?

Our cleaning people charge $20 per hour. They bring everything themselves (Mops, cleaning supplies, vacuum, etc.). I am not sure what the girls get of that, but the owner charges us per hour and a crew of two women show up.

If you are going to do this, you should consider hiring another person to come along with you. It will cost you a little, but at the same time it will make the job safer for you and you could get a larger client base and eventually add an additional team of clearners. If you pay each of them $8 per hour, you pocket $4 per hour for arranging the cleaning crew, though you could probably pay them less.

You will have to do your own research based on the economy in your region.

Call different maid/cleaning services and pretend to be a client and ask them what they charge.

You don't need very many chemicals depending on what sort of places you'll be cleaning. I've seen some excellent services get by with only 3:
an all-purpose cleaner safe for wood floors
a gritty cleaner such as Vim for hard to scrub areas
a streak-free glass and chrome cleaner.

If I were you I would keep calling around your own regional services and you will get an excellent idea of the range of prices considered market value there.

If you are planning on cleaning houses, you can expect to charge approxiately $50.00 per house and cleaning products should come with the house. You use their products. Depends on how many houses you can clean in a day as to how much money you can make.

If you charge out per hour, you will be able to calculate how many hours you can work per week...e.g. $15.00 x 20 hr = $300.00 before taxes...as well, the customers should supply their own product, they like to control what is used in their homes and maybe you can provide a product that serves you well in certain capacities...also, you will be able to dictate how much money you need and hence, how many hours of work you can do..don't forget to factor in the taxes to the gov't and your own direct expenses....but, this is mostly a total 'your own labor' deal and that makes it worthwhile.
