A little trick for the future. Use two filters. Put the coffee grounds in one, fold it over into a square package; put it in the other filter (open side down). Helps keep things cleaner.

Use warm vinegar straight. Do not dilute it with water as mentioned in another answer here. Diluting it with water cuts way down on it's cleaning power. That's why most of these coffee maker manufacturers reccomend running straight vinegar thru a brew cycle to clean the inside of the machines out also. Hope this is helpful to you. Have a nice day.

I've learned if you have hard water, you need to clean a coffee pot more often b/c the water makes it worse. Vinegar is a good idea, you can always run it through again until you feel it's clean. After, just brew water through to rinse it off well before using again.

A big cup of ice, lots of salt and a lemon diced and squeezed - put the lemon in after squeezing. Mix it around a bit, dump it, and clean as normal.
