Hey hun, I have a 14 month old and he would never eat the 7+ jars with the lumps he would just spit themout or gag, however he was great with finger food, even though h did choke on the odd occasion from biting to big a piece off. If your baby is used to only puree mostly then it will be strange for him/her to eat lumps fine straight away, it could take a month or so to get used to having finger foods without gagging etc. Don't rush him/her they will do it when the are ready, ven if you do see your doctor they wont be abl to do anything - you cant force lumps down a babies throat. i do not reccomend the jars with lumps at all, try homemade with lumps e.g. a fruit salad, use only soft lumps at first though, also soft veg. hth.Lisa x

Maybe he is just not ready for chunky foods yet.
Some babies take a little time to get used to feel of different textures in their mouth. I had the same experiences with my babies. They would gag when I put the chunky baby food in their mouths even though it was age appropriate. It won't harm your baby if he isn't chewing the food yet, as long as you are using processed baby food. Just watch that he doesn't get choked. You can also do this mix small amounts of the chunky food in with the pureed until he becomes accustomed to the new texture. Babies have to be fed in stages and he sounds like he definitely not ready for big chunks. Don't worry he will be eating you out of house and home soon enough.

My daughter was the same. You could try giving him lumpy food off a fork - he is used to getting pureed food from a spoon so will expect his food to be smooth when you are using one....
My daughter is 5 now and still won't eat lumps! Persevere - he will get used to it
Good luck

i would try some very overcooked pasta and cheerios or those fruit/veggie puffs by gerber. it's a consistency thing. he's just not used to having to chew. but if you give him things that will get soggy in his juicy mouth then he can kinda ease his way into chewing and he won't choke on anything. if he is still resisting then put the chewy foods away for another month and try again. don't let him get discouraged and don't force him, you know he's gonna have to do it eventually. let him get another tooth or two and try again. good luck!!

Persevere with the lumps. I think your doing all the right things.
Supervise him closely with his finger food so you can help out if a bit gets stuck.
small soft lumps like in soups ,soft pasta ( but tiny bits)
you could try rice pudding.
the main thing is don't give up he will get the hang of it soon.

Just hang in there and keep trying. He'll get over it eventually--trust me, he won't still be eating pureed foods at 12. :)

YES - His pediatrician can help. Please get an appointment right away and if there are no obstructions don't worry. Eventually he will eat you out of house and home.
