... of the slope. A ski slope has a vertical drop of 800 meter. THe angle of elevation is 22 degrees. What is the length of teh slope? Please explain. Thanks!

You have a right triangle with a 22 degree angle
The side opposite the 22 degree angle (the 800 meter drop) divided by the hypotenuse (the length of the slope ) is equal to the sine of 22 degrees. So slope length 800/sin 22
= 800/sin9220 = 2,135.6 meters

this is a situation where you have a right triangle with known height and known base angle and you want the slant distance or radius vector. Use the definition of the sine.

sin(theta) = h/r
therefore:
r = h/sin(theta) = 800/sin(22) the rest is arithmatic.
