Gravity or electromagnetic (chemical) forces hold atoms together.
Atoms are made from nuclei and electrons, held together by electromagnetism (and held apart by quantum exclusion).
Nulei are made from baryons held together by the strong nuclear force (partly due to gluons).
Gluons hold quarks together to make baryons.
