They were husband and wife. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were overpowered by greed to murder their King. While she could not forget and get over her crime and succumbed to it, Macbeth made enemies for himself in a desperate attempt to cover his crimes but was killed in the end. Their relationship could not mature as they fell prey to their common greed for power accompanied by Macbeth's indecision and Lady Macbeth's lack of foresight.

They're married.
They plot to kill King Duncan, which Macbeth does. He gets increasingly paranoid after the murder, and ends up killing a lot more people. She finds herself isolated from her husband, and, without an outlet for her enormous guilt, goes progressively insane, until she kills herself late in the play.
Typical married couple.
