I think you mean a hijab , but THAT IS NOT THE SAME AS A BERKA!.
A hijab is just a veil. It is a symbol of modesty and privacy.
A berka is the head-to-toe garment that competely covers a woman's body so they are not seen. A berka is a symbol of woman's subservient place in Afghan society under the Taliban.
The vast majority of women hate the idea of the berka.
The hijab is a different story, as most Muslim women like to use it. Contrary to US stereotypes, it does NOT demean women. It is just a veil that gives women a little privacy so they aren't gawked at or leered at by men who they don't want to bother them.
