If you keep governments busy working on useless things; they have less time to really screw stuff up.

To me, honestly, being an African American , it wouldn't mean anything. I'm sorry for feeling the way I do, but nothing can go back and change history, especially not an apology. First off, the people who are apologizing had nothing to do with slavery. We can not keep blaming white people or any other race now for things that happened in the past. What we should be focusing on is what is going on today. We should focus on keeping history from repeating itself. We should focus on cops that are killing innocent people, people molesting and killing children, people killing each other. These among other problems like the war in Iraq, are the things we should be focusing on, not some apology from someone for something they didn't do and we didn't go through. I understand not being proud of what your ancestors did, but there is too much going on in the world now to be giving a meaningless apology.

None. There will always be some angry people who will still complain. I don't understand myself this urgent need for an apology...I think people take for granted the rights we have today. Instead of complaining and whining about what happened decades and centuries ago, let's celebrate the progress we have made and focus on the issues (logically) today! It's important to remember the past, but keeping ourselves stuck in the past doesn't make the future a better place.
Great question by the way, I'm starring your question :-)

None what so ever. Because many descendents of former slaves are citizens of these states it is in essence them apologizing to themselves because their ancestors lived in a culture that allowed slavery. It is all a bunch of nonsense.

It is a burden that only emboldens those who are appeased by it. It keeps Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton in business.

All that is done by it, is to add validity to the reparations argument. It is the wrong thing to do and those doing it are doing so for the blk vote.

Too little too late. It is of no benefit, unless it was sincere.
