As you age, you get closer to menapause. You are early for it, but you may begin to get very light periods, skip some or go for a time with none at all. I am in the same situation right now and it makes for difficulty planning. I may get my signals of it upcoming such as a sore lower back but if I even get it, it is light and gone within the day.
But by all means, see the doc.

You could be experiencing anovulatory bleeding. If you are not ovulating, you won't have actual periods. Any bleeding would be anovulatory bleeding and can be anything from spotting to apparantly normal periods.

I highly recommend charting your fertility signs. Your chart can tell you when you are fertile, when you are not, when you are ovulating, when to expect your next period, and when to suspect pregnancy. Your chart can also tell you if there are health issues you need to attend to and if there are serious issues which need a doc's attention. Charting can even be used to avoid pregnancy if you wish.

Some good sources for charting your fertility signs: Fertilityfriend.com (free software as well as a pay-for version and on-line charting turorial); ovusoft.com (discussion boards for many fertility related issues, much info on fertility after the pill, and a very good software for purchase). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility (associated w/ the the ovusoft website and software), The Art of Natural Family Planning, and Garden of Fertility

Ectopic pregnancies most often do nto have as high a level of HCG as a normal one. INSIST your OB sees you, if they won't see another. It's just an IF but one that definately needs checked out since you have the fever and pain as well.
