Because they have no other way to shut people up who disagree. They don't just use it as a way to avoid talking about the war, but about almost anything they don't want to talk about. I.e., "I don't like the idea of tapping American citizen's telephones," their response, "it's because of 9/11, we have to now, get over it." I.e., "I don't like how we don't fund alternative energy," their response, "it's because of 9/11 that we have to give $ to big oil companies to keep oil coming in and prevent terrorists, so there's no $ for anything else." In other words, they have no rational reasons and realize that the occurence of 9/11 and bringing it up scares many people away from true and rational consideration of the issues.
Also, Hussein kept radical Islamists out of his country because he was a dictator who did not like any type of dissent--including by terrorists! The terrorists flooded into Iraq AFTER America took over. Afghanistan was backed by terrorists and that's why that "war" made some sense.
And Bush isn't stupid, he's ignorant and closed-minded, but listens to his "trusted" advisers who wanted the war and have ulterior motives (i.e., getting big $ for big corporations like Halliburton). I'm not a Dem or Repub because I think they're all crooked in some way.

The ones saying remember 911 don't have their facts straight. The real problem with war today is the media bringing it right to our homes. Yes war is an ugly business. Yes American soldiers die in war. But in the past people had the will to see a job through, (in my opinion) largely due to the fact that they never see for themselves just how ugly it can be. The truth is that the anti-war crowd has a lot more ammo to work with in the graphic images that are brought to us daily by the media.
Read Tsun tzu's The Art of War and you will see that the actual fighting can be the least important part of a war. Weakening your enemies will is much more effective.

They've listened to the BS coming out the White House. In an effort to have someone to blame and get the "people" on their side the Bush administration tried to say Al Quaeda, Iraq and the 9/11 debacle are inextricably intertwined but there has never been a shred of truth to that. We've never gotten a connection to Iraq and 9/11 or the terrorists and Iraq or Al Quaeda and Iraq but the Republicans in power mixed them all into a ball to confuse people into backing their oil grab in Iraq. If they continue to listen to Washington about any of this it will continue to change but they'll parrot back whatever they hear.
It also seems to have escaped their attention that the so-called war on terror isn't working and there's a good reason. YOU CAN'T FIGHT VIOLENCE WITH VIOLENCE! It just escalates until millions are dead. Ask the Irish, ask the Palestinians and Israelis. It will never end and it will never solve any problem. In the history of man it has never worked. Not even once. And it keeps NO ONE safer. We are more at risk now than we were the day before or the day after 9/11.

What is there NOT to denounce. Yes, we were attacked by terrorist on 9-11. No argument. The odd part is, that in response to this attack, Bush attacks and occupies a country that had nothing to do with 9-11. Why wouldn't anyone denounce the war in Iraq. Or at the very least, be confused by it. There was absolutely NO relation between Iraq and 9-11. And to confuse matters worse, Iraq was not a threat to us.
amazing!!! Just looking at some of the answers to your question is totally amazing. some of these people truly seem to believe that there is some sort of connection. I hold Bush and his crew responsible for the lies and the propaganda. It is almost like there has been mass brainwashing in this country.

They want you to remember 9/11 but when truths come out, they blacklist the topics. Again, BBC and CNN announced the collapsed of WTC Building 7 before it happened. Why have republicans (nor democrats, for that matter) mention that little oversight.
We remember. They lie about wanting you to remember.

The war in Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11.
Bin Laden was not sponsored by Iraq (he was armed by the US). The war in Iraq is all based on the (false) assumption that Iraq was developing WMDs. They weren't, but that still didn't stop the US and the UK from removing a stable (if some what despotic) government and leaving the country in turmoil.
Those who blame the war in Iraq on 9/11 are the same people who were duped by the WMD claim, but now need something else to blame.
9/11 DID cause the war in Afghanistan.

I thought you said you refused to listen to anything Bush says so how can you debate anything about him?
Anyway, this is a war on terror. The attacks on our country were performed by terrorists. If we don't continue with the war on terror, there will be more attacks on our country like 9/11. Do you get the connection yet or do I have to use smaller words?

Remember 9-11-2001? Maybe you do not care that for the first time in our History, we were attacked in our Continental United States of America. The target was civilian buildings, and 3,000 men, women and children were killed. The Heroes in NY who went to help their fellow Americans are still dying from the fallout in which they had to work. Real Americans do care and support the war on Terrorism.
