Unless you have a contract or work in a state that has specific laws, you can be fired without cause at any time. It's called "at will."

So, finding your resume on monster.com is sufficient reason to fire you. This would NOT be unlawful termination.

Therefore, this is a matter between you and your boss. Clearly, they know you're looking to leave. If they like you, they'll ask you why you're posting your resume and ask what they can do to keep you. If they don't like you, they might fire you before you can quit. Or, they just might let you quit (so as to avoid any legal and financial complications they would have if the fired you).

It is not grounds for dismissal. If you are still doing your job properly, they can't fire you. They can be stinky and look for reasons, so if things start being said, make sure you document everything, with date and occurence, who said what, so that if you are fired, you can prove it all started with them finding your resume. They probably just won't promote you or give you raises for a while, thinking you are looking elsewhere anyway.

No they can't fire you. You should have used that for opportunity to sound voice your grievances as why you are looking for another job.

Well, you can say "I always have my resume posted". It does not mean that you are actively looking.
