It is now 3/9 & I am worried. My husband & I have been trying to conceive since August & 1 1/2 days before the second period started an ovulation test told me to try. (Imagine my frustration!) After about 4 days it seemed to slow down, so I got curious & took another ovulation test...It said I was ovulating!!!! "No Way" I thought. So I wondered if I would get a false positive on a pregnacy test as well, & sure enough, It came up positive. I had a doctors appointment yesterday & at that time it appeared to be on the way out. Very light & slightly brown. The doctor said that 2 periods happen to even the most predictable women, & unless it starts back up or it happens again, that they consiter this to be an isolated incident, & then scheduled me a pap for next month as a follow up. I went shopping last night afterwards for 4 hours & when I got home I noticed that it was right back to a constant red drip. What would cause a constant bleeding & false positives on both? An Infection Maybe?

Okay...as I said, I was just at the doctors, and have another appointment for next month. She just had me do some labs while I was there to rule out thyroid problems and to make sure that I am not anemic now from blood loss. I get my labs back today and do plan on letting her know that I am back to bleeding heavy again.....

2 actual periods in a month are not really possible. What you described could be ovulatory bleeding. Some women experience bleeding around ovulation.

OPKs are not very useful for confirming ovulation and are prone to "false" negatives. If you body gears up to ovulate but doesn't for whatever reason, you can still get an LH surge that shows up on an OPK. If you just rely on the OPK, you might think ovulation had occured when it didn't, at least until later.

I highly recommend charting your fertility signs. Your chart can tell you when you are fertile, when you are not, when you are ovulating, when to expect your next period, and when to suspect pregnancy. Your chart can also tell you if there are issues delaying conception or causing difficulty w/ carrying a pregnancy and if there are serious issues which need a doc's attention.

Some good sources for charting your fertility signs: Fertilityfriend.com (free software as well as a pay-for version and on-line charting turorial); ovusoft.com (discussion boards for many fertility related issues, much info on fertility after the pill, and a very good software for purchase). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility (associated w/ the the ovusoft website and software), The Art of Natural Family Planning, and Garden of Fertility

Are you on any fertility medicines? When I was on Clomid and metformin I experienced the "break through bleeding" But I also have PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome) Are you seeing a fertility specialist? Good Luck hun!
One other thing , you may have had a miscarriage but it could have been too early to detect.

I have never heard of that before. But when I was a teen I started to have irregular periods and then finally it 'exploded' and wouldn't stop. Got heavier and heavier. Turned out I had a polyp on my uterus lining. I'd definitely have your doctor look into it more seriously if the period doesn't stop soon.

i had two periods in one month. i was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) even though i dont have cysts. this started when i was 23 years old. i'm still in my twenties and i have this problem. as of now i am taking birth control pills and within 2 months my periods went from 2 weeks, 1 month to 4 days. get an ultrasound to see if you have cysts. Basially, your hormones could be out of wack. just like mines. i also have acne too. one symptom of PCOS
