I have been told both of these degrees are good, but I am interested in working for a magazine one day or perhaps for the BBC so which degree, english or journalism? English is a much broader choice but Journalism sounds good too. Please help.

i had that problem.. this is how i solved it. you're right english. i decided on a combined degree. coventry uni does an english with journalistic skills degree. you can search for others like that on ucas.com. or even better english with creative writing or something. coz journalism is a skill. so get work experience and check out connexions.gov.uk there's a jobs database you can search for journalism. it'll tell you really useful stuff...hope i helped.

Journalism.
You could always have a minor in English. You can't be a good journalist if your English is not good.
Working for the school newspaper would be a great resume-booster

English is a better degree. You can work on the student newspaper in the meantime. Believe me, employers just laugh when someone sends in a CV saying they have a media studies degree.

journalism will help with your career choice most but take english if your not perfectly sure because that will give you more choices for jobs later

always write your thoughts on paper and frequently speak to yourself confidently in the mirror and give yourself 'eye contact' and you will be well on your way

I would suggest Jouralism, because you can learn techinques that engilsh cant.
