Best in what category? Most Nobel Prize winning graduates? Most Nobel Prize winners on faculty? Most percentage of graduates in research, or teaching? Unfortunately, putting out doctors who work in the trenches get short shrift in these evaluations. Some of the best physicians involved in patient care are graduates of very ordinary medical schools.

US News & World Reports ranks US med schools in both categories - research and clinical acumen at the website below.

Abroad there are also excellent schools. One "sleeper", not well known to the general public, is the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.
