I am currently 37 weeks pregnant. I Have been having irritable contractions for about 2.5 weeks. The Doctor now hospital can't stop them and they were not making me diallate so I was sent home twice from the hospital. They told me to come back in when they got worse. Well today I have lower dull constant back pain and my contractions are a little worse...they hurt (MILDLY) instead of just being uncomfortable like they were. But the reason i am really asking this question is because I CAN BARELY WALK. When I walk I have this SEVERE pain in my vaginal area as if a knife is pushing down. This seems to make my back pain and contractions a little worse also. Is this a sign that i may be dialating or ephasing? PLEASE HELP! i dont want to go back to the hospital and be pumped full of drugs again just to be released!

I think the term being in labor is relative, Your in labor from the time the sperm penetrates the egg. It won't stop until the baby is 18 years old.

If the pain keeps getting worse, call your doctor. Sometimes you can have contractions but they don't get worse or closer together, so it's really false labour.

The stabbing pain is the baby moving down... trust me, I know how you feel! I'm 6 days overdue and I feel this pain often! My baby is really strong when she moves and she'll just push down really really hard when she kicks, sometimes my eyes water because it hurts so bad! That's just the baby preparing to move down... and it may be a sign that you are dialating, but remember you can dialate before you go into labour and stay that way for a week or more before anything happens.

Good luck! And don't worry too much! If you have to deliver now your baby will be concidered full-term and be just fine! Call your doctor if contractions get stronger and closer together!

why would they try to stop contractions at 37 weeks, that is considered full term. Don't let them stop it, you might not be able to go into labor on your own if they do. I had a friend who had that happen. Your baby is completely developed at this point (well, developed to the point that it will have no problems at being born now)

That is a hard one. I too was sent home from the hospital it sucks it makes you question everything and the nurses made me feel kinda stupid. Call your doctor and see what he/she thinks you should do I am sure you are worried and the doctor should help that is what they are there for. Good luck. And Happy soon to be baby day!
