I can only keep the drawer closed if I stick some items of clothing or socks in between the dresser and the drawer when I close it.

You most likely have drawers with the new rollers on a metal track, your dresser might be leaning forward but also the track could be loose a little allowing the front to drop just a fraction, so take the drawer out and tap the track upward a little and tighten the screws back up on it. If the rollers on the drawer part are loose then reset them also and tighten them back up.

I had the same problem. I stacked a few pennies under the two front feet of the dresser, and used gravity to my advantage by slightly tilting the dresser towards the wall.

Maybe the balance is off on the dresser. Place something underneath the front legs so the dresser will tilt back.

make sure first its on level surface, then rub soap inside the drawer on the bottom where the rungs are.
