I have always thought it a little arrogant of us to assume that human activity can have a more dramatic affect on the planet than the sun, geology and the rest of the animal kingdom put together.
And I know for a fact (ie from personal experience not a tv report) that research has been deliberately altered in reports to make the case for a man made cause which, while it does not prove that we are not the cause, at least gives rise to great doubt about the consensus position.
I think the key pieces of evidence in the C4 documentary are pretty irrefutable, and that the case for a man made cause is far from made and is in fact VERY unlikely.
There is an overreliance on climate models to justify the role of CO2. These are inevitably based on many assumptions, one of which is the size of the role of CO2. So they tell you what you tell them! The main problem with these climate models, though, is that they get climate prediction over the short to medium term wrong, so there is very little reason to believe them over the longer term.
We are being conned.

I think Cybermoose gave the correct answer (the earth's temperature varies over time; right now it's getting warmer, but the greenhouse gases are causing the earth to get warm faster ... and in the future they will cause it to cool off more slowly, and maybe avoid an ice age).
But I am appalled at some of the other responses. Apparently people are thinking that it is the heat of burning fuel that is causing global warming. That isn't it, folks! That heat is not significant relative to the mass of the earth and the heat lying under the surface of the earth (think of volcanoes). The heat we create by burning fuel radiates to space and is insignificant relative to the amount of heat we get from the sun each day.
The problem (if we decide it really is a problem) is that the "greenhouse gases" from burning fuel (CO2, basically) tend to hold the heat in. So although the heat of our planet is radiated into space, it is not radiated as efficiently as it would be without the increased CO2 in the upper atmosphere.
If you thought that we are heating up the planet with the energy from our fires, then you don't understand the problem, and you should certainly not be making fun of those people who are not convinced there is a problem.

As was shown on Monday night The only cause of global warming is Solar energy. CO2 does not effect climate.
It is a good thing to try to be produce energy from cleaner sources but it is just wrong to claim that the CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels effects climate. As I said before there is irrefutable evidence that CO2 has no effect on climate.

US HUMANS.
Our collective farts alone is more than what cows make. Our incessant demand for fast tools, appliances, cars, machines all need oil or energy which at this time are petroleum based, causing so much polluttion of water and land and air; acid rain and DDT residues, to CFCs.
Increased population and less plants means that our ever increasing numbers produce so much Carbon Dioxide for global warming. Destruction of rainforest and any vegetation fields in the interest of urban and suburban sprawl exacerbate the situation.
Those who think and dismiss this notion as just part of natural cycles are wrong, because there were not much people in any of the ages, eras, or eons of geologic time. The human equation is exponetially increasing.
It is US.
Unless, we change our attitudes and behaviour, the end of the world will come much, much earlier than when the sun will consume itself in another 4 billions years.

Part of the Earth's cycles just as ice ages are. Forget the hype the only reason for the great interest in Global Warming is so that taxes can be increased.

The sun is getting closer and closer to the Earth, and our ozone layer has a bid hole in it, due to the use of CFCs(ClouroFlouroCarbons) and therefore the Earth is getting warmer and there is a higher risk of people getting skin cancer because more Ultra Violet light is getting to them since the ozone layer has a hole. Also, Antarctica is starting to melt because of the heat and some places are sinking almost an inch every year.

The cause to global warming may be because we, the people that live on this planet don't take care of it.

I think it is the raised temperature that most people get when they know they are just going to be even more heavily taxed using the excuse of Global warming.

personally i dont really care what causes it. it could be human intervention, precipitation in the atmosphere or the sun getting hotter. either way the earth will "reset" itself eventually then life will go on... or not. ill be dead by then anyways. and if im not well... what a crappy ride that'll be. all the hype is so the government can get enviornment nuts to back them in introducing the carbon tax. yes!! another tax that i dont give a crap about!!
