People who want to rule over you constantly try to scare you into subservient compliance. One way they do this is by throwing around scary words without defining what they actually mean.
George Bush does this a lot. He uses vague language like "terrorist" instead of referring to the reality that real crimes are committed by real people. But he finds it more effective to appeal to our emotions than to invite us to use reason.
He started out by calling the 9/11 crime an act of war. Since then he has been endlessly trying to con us with words like "victory" and "defeat" and "war on terror". The most stupid among us (and there are a lot of stupid people) swallow this without thinking. They turn aside from reality and occupy themselves with inconsequential trivia like Anna Nicole Smith and Britney Spears. Bread and circuses. Meanwhile, actual real live people are bleeding and dying in Iraq, and real live people are being genocided in Africa. And babies born in America have a lower life expectancy than babies born in Cuba. But oh, don't worry about real problems here at home, just crack open a beer and watch the tube and let the Decider be the master of your life.
No. Wake up. When Bush tries to scare you by saying " ... the terrorists have won", it's time to take a long hard look at who is using that kind of language and ask why.

unfortunately, Americans are being poisoned to believe that they have to communicate and be spoken to in sound bytes.
they say that pat buchanan and others are extremely well versed in expressing in 30,45, and 60 second sound bytes
even louis farakkhan confessed that CBS 60 Minutes edited the hell out of his words. never conduct an interview w/o going "live". Hillary Clinton recently did this on Good Morning America and will continue to do so when at all possible.
your question topic started to be brewed into the spin game from savvy senators and congress people on the hill and even the white house press machine itself and almost by every mainstream media news outlet and newscaster.

Yes they do care what we do.
Example cause a few civlian deaths and we run away.
They know the next time we will do the same.
Iranians know now that if they were to rise up against the current president of Iran they can't count on the U.S. to stick with them because liberals will want to run away when it gets tough.
So maybe you can see that gives the advantage to the terrorists.

FIRST WE MUST DEFINE TERRORISM
I MEAN IF WE EVER EXPECT TO GAIN FREEDOM, in essence the definition for freedom may reside within our definition of "terrorism" on some levels.
A lot of people seem to think all "terrorism" is bad and that IS NOT the case, here is an example: ;I may make a THREAT and INSTILL TERROR by saying this : "if you attempt to rape my innocent-friend I will shoot you with a lazer beam". So you see it is a valiant act of USING FEAR with a "supporting means of terror"(ie>the lazer beam on the nogen)
Obviously there are many times when a "terrorist" uses THREATS and acts of terror for INAPPROPRIATE MEANS... and so as to say. (example : the SYRINGICAL RAPING of people who are held in custody labeled as "mentally ill")

While your question makes no sense, i will explain the purpose of terrorism to you. It is not to kill people. It is make people live in fear, and make them change the way they live.

The purpose of a terrorist is to create terror. If we react to that terror they have been successful in their own eyes.
