in college football the reason they never win a bowlgame is because they dont deserve to be there. THEY SUCK they might be a top 25 team but never did they have the right to be in the top10 an if they did then college football isnt worth watchin anymore i could go on for hours about how their fans always have an excuse as to why they lost and if they just pull off some lucky comeback to a horrible team everyones like woooooo this is notre dames year

how many people are there out there that agree and if you do we should start a petition to have them 20 spots lower than theyre ranked from here on out

First off, they're going to be ranked most of the time because they're an independent school and schedule whoever they want. So while other teams are playing their conference bottom feeders or can't find decent teams to play them in their non-conference schedule (Louisville has run into this as of late), Notre Dame because of the revenue they pull and no conference ties can play anyone at anytime. Obviously having a tough schedule boosts their BCS rankings, we all know anymore it's about how you load your schedule up to get to the BCS.

This is the kicker for me though. I just love how the BCS actually reserves a spot just for Notre Dame. Rule #4 under the BCS Selection Policies and Procedures actually says "Notre Dame will have an automatic berth if it is in the top eight of the final BCS Standings.". It doesn't say an independent school will have an automatic berth, it's saying freakin' Notre Dame. And almost every time as long as Notre Dame wins a handful of games they will be in the Top 8 because of the strength of schedule. It's one of the most rigged spots in all of sports.

Granted it sucks and I hate it as much as anyone. But what needs to happen (and probably never will) is schools need to refuse to schedule them until they agree to join a conference. They're in the Big East in basketball and that conference has no quams about how many teams they have in their conference. I guarantee it would be a heck of alot harder to get in that BCS Top 8 if they had to play (and beat) Louisville, West Virginia, and Rutgers on a regular basis.....and not have that powerhouse schedule to balance their losses. You take one loss in a conference like that you're out of National Championship contention (just ask Louisville). You take two losses and you can forget the BCS all together.

Notre Dame has the largest and most influential alumnus along with unlimited funds. Many of these alumnus are employed in the academic fields and the media, which gives them access to influence almost anyone.

Money talks. Notre Dame and their alumnus have an unlimited supply.

DO NOT believe the misconception that ND plays a difficult schedule. Their schedule always consists of at least 7 or 8 creampuffs. They play Army, Navy, Air Force, Stanford, UCLA, Purdue, Michigan State and this year North Carolina and Ga Tech. Typically only 1 of these teams will be a decent team in the same year. This is hardly a tough schedule. They play 2 good teams and USC. The rest are NOT quality competition, they are placed there to pad the schedule.

2 reasons:
1) It is a carryover from 30 years ago when Notre Dame got almost every blue chip high school player they wanted and they did indeed field some very good teams. That isn't the case anymore. Notre Dame gets very very few of the top blue chippers any more and it shows.
2) Huge TV market broadcast deals. The more they are hyped, the better the ratings, the more they can charge for advertising.

I agree. Every year a win over a mediocre team, and usually its a win where they just squeaked by, send them rocketing up the polls. Then they lose a few games and slowly trickle back down through the cracks but are still ranked 10-15 spots higher than they should be. After that, they get to go to a January bowl game where they get dominated and the only reason the game is any fun to watch is to see the pained look on their fans faces as they lose by 30.

Ask ESPN. They are the "stupidest" people on the planet. None of them can play sports so they hire them to predict that Notre Dame will do something. Sooner or later they be right but as you said, it doesn't happen very often.

Mid west and east coast bias. Plain and simple. Truth is they have a big fan base and fans foot the bill. They are historically a big draw for attendance. I don't know if it is as much overrated as it is being evaluated on past achievements.

Is it any wonder when you schedule the likes of Army, Navy, Air Force (I guess the Marines and Coast Guard dont field teams?) every season ?
