why can't they just shut up and do as they are told?
Now, the liberal Justice Department is saying that the FBI has misused the Patriot Act.
So what?
They probably did it for a good reason.

We are guaranteed certain rights under the Constitution. Thank you for proving one of the differences between Conservatives and Liberals.

Liberals care about and believe in the Constitution, Conservatives don't.

Because the Declaration of Independence was a light that lit the world for centuries ... a people declaring itself free from tyranny, holding that all men were created equal (the first time in history than anybody had written that down); and writing a Constitution that enshrined those freedoms and was designed, by some of history's most brilliant thinkers, to ensure that there were enough checks and balances to ensure that such tyrannies could not re-emerge. It was a precious gift to America and the rest of the world, and it's not merely US citizens who worry when they see those rights being eroded.

If 'liberals' had shut up and done as they were told, you would probably still have slavery, McCarthyism, discrimination against women and racial minorities ... assuming that you were still here because 'liberals' held out against nuclear war in Vietnam, Cuba, and Heaven knows how many other places. You won the right to disagree with your government. Don't give it up. One day you're going to need it.

Darn those people who value freedom, do you have any idea how liberal Washington, Jefferson, Madison were, are you aware that if you asked people to approve the Bill of Rights today, they wouldn't? Does this mean you want all power in the hands of the executive branch so they can fire all the judges they want without cause and put in more political appointees so they can get the courts to see things their way or out they go too? That the reason bunkie, still sound so good now?
Would it sound so good if it wasn't Bush, but Obama?

First of all, that's a false statement. They're only concerned about SOME rights.

1. Right to "privacy". This really doesn't exist in the Consitution, it's one of those "penumbra and aura" rights. Nevertheless, they claim that privacy allows for full abortion rights and the ability to chat with enemies during wartime. They do not consider it an invasion of privacy that government has full access to your personal financial information (IRS for tax purposes). They do not consider forced registration of guns to be an invasion of privacy. Very select in what they protect.

2. Right to gun ownership. They've attacked this for decades. 'nuff said.

3. Right to freely practice religion. I did not see many liberals standing up for public schools students being allowed to mention God in their graduation speeches.

4. The right to free speech. Again, where were the liberals when all these Campaign Finance "reforms" were being passed. Each one of these "reforms" had 2 effects - infringement on our rights to free political speech and they've increased the incumbency rates.

5. Where is the liberal outrage over the ability to have a restraining order issued against you (loss of rights) without even getting to defend oneself against the charges (due process)? Heck, there doesn't even need to be any proof, just someone to say they're "scared" you might do something.

Well, I think I've laid your smugness to rest, so let me address the FBI misuse.

Any power given to the government has the probability of misuse. Conservatives do not argue that it was not misused, and we deplore government misuse of power. But there is no indication any of this was done with any criminal intent, but due to error and sloppiness. Unsatisfactory, but not nefarious.

Rights are what America is based on.
Read The Declaration of Independence, a very liberal document.
Read The Bill of Rights, another liberal document.
Freedoms = Rights
My question is, why don't you care about the rights of Americans? Why promote a dictator?

I'm not sure I agree with your basic premise.

IMO liberals are not interested in "our" rights. IMO liberals are only interested in "their" rights. I think liberals, as a whole, would gladly gag anyone they don't agree with. In the last week I have addressed three libs who would burn books, a little trick Hitler would approve of. And their reason was they didn't agree with the content. I spent 22 years in the military so ALL could speak their mind. It galls me when someone wants to silence anyone.

BTW, I am so conservative I make Genghis Khan look like a Roosevelt Democrat and Rush Limbaugh a socialist.

I know, the Constitution is "just another ******* piece of paper"-George Bush!

We are concerned about them because they were earned at a very high price to Americans and the military! It is sad that you also think the Constitution means nothing! Just a "technicality"!

They probably did it for good reason? There is NO GOOD REASON to violate the constitution or break the law!

And if we weren't concerned with your rights, who would be?

SOMEBODY has to and the conservatives have their noses so far up there in the govenments behind they can't see.

If it weren't for the so-called "liberal" bunch, you can bet Bushie and the boys would clamp down on everything; the press, the media, freedom of speech, religion, civil rights, womens right, abortion rights....

If you want to sit on your butt and watch this administration slowly take away the things our country has fought 300 years for, then you will deserve what comes out the other end.

Those of us who cherish our country and our freedoms refuse to let it happen.

Obviously you are a sheep willing to let the government control your rights. Your forefathers fought and died to have the people enjoy rights that cannot be abused by the government! The government has limits! And the people should step up when those limits are breached you fool!!!

Because the GOP has sought to limit them for years. Well now, they've just taken them away via the Patriot Act.
