i need a good birthday present for a girl thats turning 12 but thats not overly-expensive (like a cell or ipod)

Real inexpensive: a diary, earrings, things like that. How about a book? Especially if she enjoys a series.
A little more expensive, a watch, cd, cap, gift card to just about anywhere. A craft kit is usually fun.

What about something like a jewelry box and a new pair of earrings.Girls can never have too much jewelry.Good luck.You can also try a gift card so they can pick out their own gift.

a very popular thing these days is a straightener or curling iron if she doesn't have one already. a cute purse or jewelry set may also be useful. if she has started decorating her room, then maybe some posters of things she likes or would like.
i am sure whatever u get her she'll like as long as it shows you cared.

well, I think it depends on how well you know the girl... for example, if you know their tastes in fashion, cartoons, etc... remember that's an age where the girls are discovering fashion, make up, but haven't forgotten about cartoons, and kid's stuff... Maybe a nice purse with her favorite character, or a set of teen makeup like lip gloss, etc.

12 year olds LOVE lip gloss and nail pollish. that is very inexpencive but she will love it.
