I am usually very clean shaven, however I am finding it extremely hard to reach and see and I don't want to be hairy and nasty on the "big day". Has anyone ever had a brazilian during their last 10 weeks of pregnancy? Is it more painful? Is it safe?

I had it done twice while pregnant last time. Make sure you go to a technician that has done this before, or it'll hurt worse than necessary. It does hurt me more during pregnancy than when I'm not knocked up - I think because of the extra blood flow, but I thought it was worth it. To be honest, the hairs that hurt the worst are these guys up front and middle - so just get those trimmed, don't pull them out unless you're really up for it.

Waxing only affects the skin, so I don't see how it would be any less safe during pregnancy unless you do it immediately before giving birth, in which case any small cuts might be exposed to germs during childbirth. On the other hand, with the skin down there being more "stretched out" than usual, it will be somewhat more painful.

As far as wanting to be all clean for the big day, however, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Perhaps trimming with a beard/moustache trimmer will keep it from getting too busy. And believe me, those doctors and nurses have seen enough messes associated with childbirth in their day not to blink an eye at a little hair.

Waxing During Pregnancy

I had a brazilian wax about one week before, and it was a bit more painful than usual, but totally worth it. That way you won't have to deal with itchiness and red bumps, and believe me, one less thing that causes you disconfort will be a blessing. Just be sure that you find someone who is experienced doing this or you'll end up with burns or bruises.

It's completely safe (as long as the salon you're going to is nice and clean!) but it will very likely hurt MUCH more!!

Why not let it just grow wild for a couple months...your doctors really won't care...I can't see to shave down there anymore either and find it kinda nice to not have to worry about it or mess with it :) My husband doesn't mind either, he's just glad I'm comfy :)

i have...lol, they say it does hurt more due to the increased amount of fluid. i agree with you, my husband has been helping me, seeing as im due in 4 days i particularly care not to be getting waxed and go into labour on somebody's table, so i have been using an electric razor to avoid those little nicks that can become infected, but i was told there is no reason why waxing should be avoided

It shouldn't hurt any more or less than normal.. The wax is not absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream, so it is safe for the baby...
