well i have experienced racism since i did not grow up in white america. so i do get it, i dont think people should categorize other people based on race or color. they will realize when they pass on to the other side it was just a lesson. but for now i wish the violence would stop.

Margaret Cho is a commedian so she gets to say all sorts of disturbing half-truths that many people think but don't get to say.
A half-truth because a person can never -really- know what it's like to be someone else, although most people can empathasise and sympathasise, and the ability to do so is part of what makes us "feel human". And so this is a disturbing saying, because we're all human and so we all know what it is like to endure hardship.
The stereotype of white people is that they have easy lives and never have to suffer. It is true that -some- white people have eaiser lives than -some- black people, but generalizations are generally misleading. White people who have had hard lives resent the idea that all white people have it easy, because this idea seems to minimise their pain. This in turn can feed the racist notions in lower class white people, a vicious cycle.

She did make a generalization, but I understood what she meant by it. After the Michael Richards incident SO MANY white people were saying "Get over it" "Well you say it to each other all the time" and all I thought was, "You guys just don't get it. How much it hurts to see someone who yu like and are a fan of say the one word that demoralizes an entire race of people"
I think what she was trying to say was that unless you jumped out of a plane you don't know what it feels like to jump out of a plane. She was not saying it to insult white people, just a simple fact that white people are the majority and are considered "the norm" in our country so there is no way you can know what its like to be a minority, just as she will never get what its like for white people to hear her say that "white people don't get it" I will never know what it feels like to be white and to have minorities look at me as someone "who doesn't get it" Its a vicious circle. Just as you do "get it", I am probably not what most people think a black woman should be. We are individuals and thats that and we ALL need to get over ourselves. Seriously.
I agree that we have been up and down this road for centuries and you would figure we are all smart enough to get over all the bull and get real. But as you see, it never ends.

She probably means that unless you live it, you really cannot fully understand it. So while, as a white person, I try to empathize with the persecution that people from non-white races experience in America, this pales in comparison to big and small discrimination that non-white people experience on a daily basis. I will never know what that is like even though I aim to end this discrimination.

Because Margaret Cho is a fat, stupid racist who thinks all whites were born with silver spoons in their mouths. Some buffoon thought this whale had "talent", otherwise she probably would have overdosed in an alley somewhere in Chinatown. Racism is usually perpetrated by non-whites. And is it me, or are only whites charged with hate crimes?

I imagine she's speaking in generalizations, not an unheard of method of relating thoughts.
Generally speaking, you don't think she's right? I think if she were wrong, if the majority of whites DID get what racism is, how insidious and nasty of a way to address another human it is, there'd be absolutely no tolerance for it and it could begin its descent into ancient history. But that doesn't appear to be the state of affairs to this white gal.

She said it because she is a comedian, and she gets paid to make humorous remarks that border on racism.
I think you are giving this far more weight than it deserves.
First, it is partially true. I am white, and did not grow up in an Asian family. I do not have the same insight into their relationships.
Second, again, it is said to be funny. While that does not excuse the racism, it is not to be taken in the same context as when one is wearing a sheet and holding a burning cross.

you somewhat don't comprehend bullying. Making exciting of Palin isn't bullying, yet in simple terms affirming her flaws for comedic fee. there's no longer something Cho does that bullies Palin into doing or no longer doing something. the persons who attack, push around, deny jobs to, and so on., and so on. homosexuals are bullies, and that they do no longer do it for comedic fee.
