I've had some borderline cells on my smear test and have to go back in six months for a colposcopy to check if they've changed back to normal or moved on to be abnormal cells. if they've developed into abnormal cells, I may need laser treatment. What happens if I get pregnant in this time? would I still be able to have the treatment?

Personally i would wait until you have had the check up at the coloscopy clinic, You can get pregnant in this time but its best to get yourself checked first then you can get yourself sorted and then concentrate on a baby. I wouldn't leave this for nine months as your health is more important, best bets is to talk to your doctor and ask them what they think you should do. I had laser treatment i went for a check up and he did it there and then, plus ive been in for a op to remove part of my cervix that had abnormal cells, i'm glad i never let it wait it could have been worse.:) oh and if you do get pregnant you will have to wait for treatmant

No, I don't think so. I don't think they do any sort of laser treatment while pregnant. Why don't you contact your OBGYN and ask to be sure. Play the scenario for her of you possibly being pregnant at that time. Some years ago, I was told my cells were borderline and would have to have a colposcopy, too. I went to a different doctor and got a different result, my pap was fine. It's funny odd how one place can give you one diagnosis and someplace else, a different one. My suggestion for you is to go see a different doctor, get a second opinion regarding the abnormal pap. I've had normal paps since.

Hi there i had laser treatment years ago and i have two beautiful daughters so you will be fine in the future, make sure you have the treatment (which does not hurt) but try not to get pregnant until after treatment as you need to get this done now and then concentrate on having your kids. good luck in the future ,

I would avoid getting pregnant until your six months are up, your mind will be put at ease and you can therefore concentrate on getting pregnant. i would think that if you did get pregnant and you did need laser therapy it may have some effect on your pregnancy after all it is the cervix that holds the baby in there.

i think of you could carry off attempting for a toddler till once you have had a 2d smear try. If the 2d one shows as peculiar you could could have some type of therapy and it may no longer have the potential to be achieved in case you have been pregnant.

In my opinion, I think you should wait until your pap comes back normal. The best thing to do is to talk to your doctor about this instead asking people in Yahoo Answers.

your treatment would be delayed until after the baby, if your not pregnant yet have your treatment first then go and have babies if you are already pregnant your treatment will have to wait

Suggest you wait. You would not want any pregnancy to be aborted, would you. Six months is shorter than nine, so my advice is don't risk it.
