These people haved cussed at my son before, telling him to get the "f" off someone elses property. (he was retrieving his ball from their backyard and these people are only there like twice a year) Anyway, they called the police and said he ding-dong ditched their house, which he did, cop said it isn't a crime but it wastes their time to have to come out for such nonsense...which I agree with him fully and can't believe she didn't have the decency to come to me about my son ringing her doorbell or walking a few steps across her yard. So my question is, should I call the police station and report the fact that she came out cussing at my kid with a baseball bat? or is that just ridiculous and wasting more of their time? Also, these people have dogs that bark constantly. It drives me insane, but I have never called the police on them.

The yard he went to get his ball out of was not even my neighbors yard! And the yard he walked across was our front yard, they are basically connected, he walked across our yard and then a couple steps across theirs.

Only call the police if she seriously threatens your child and trys to physically hurt him. Otherwise just ignore there ignorance. Calling the police for any other reason then that will just feed the fire. AND do NOT react to them when they act like asses. Keep your son FAR FAR AWAY from them and give them as an example of how NOT to act.

You can report noise violations from the dogs to your city. The cursing and the baseball bat is something I would suggest you talk to these crazies about. If you feel like you would be put in danger I would suggest, going to the police station and asking for an officer to come with you at a set time. Thats what they are there for, this women should not be threatening your child, and your child shouldnt be exposed to such foul language.

You could call the police about disturbing the peace with the barking dogs, but I wouldn't call for your son. I would just tell your son to stay out of their way, and if he needs to go in their yard for some reason, to tell you so that you can go and get a baseball for him.

Technically, your son was trespassing, drop that one and in the future, if anything needs to be retrieved from their yard, first get a picture of it in their yard and then contact them by phone. Try to be civil, avoid a direct confrontation. If they destroy the object, you now have proof of it and its condition before they do anything to it.

The dog issue can be a police issue, but don't make a confrontation just out of spite.

I suggest your son make sure he doesn't trespass on the neighbors yard.

That is the simple way to solve this problem. He doesn't have the right to go on their property and they can chase him away.....

I can't believe that the police have gotten involved with this frivolous nonsense.....Keep your kids off their property - problem solved, case closed.

Well, you seem to have a done a terrible job as a parent. You didn't teach him anything about respecting other people's property? He should have gone to their FRONT door and asked permission to retreive the ball. That's what my parents would have done with me - and if no-one was home, I'd have had to wait until someone came home.

Try parenting instead of whining.
