i know this is so immature of me but i can't take it anymore. i live in a two flat apartment building so there is only me plus one neighbor living downstairs. she has 5 kids and lets them just run back and forth all day long. they are all homeschooled. and they all range from 9 months old to 10 years old. every morning i'm wokin up with her kids slamming and running. you swear she lives upstairs but they live below us. we've asked her many times before to calm her kids because it's really loud listening to them from up here. she said no problem. but then continues. i tried stomping on the floor, blasting loud music with loud bass, talking to the landlord is hopeless, what are some good ways to get her to stop. the music with loud bass works but when you have people sleeping up her they don't appreciate it in the morning.

Well I can definatly appreciate your problem, I lived in an apartment for almost two years and in that period had 3 sets of neighbors that lived above me. Only one was decent and quiet. I had one neighbor that let her dog onto the porch to relieve himself and well you can imagine how lovely the smell was when it rained....yuck. Well there are a couple things that you can do. Keep bothering your landlord, eventually they will get sick of hearing from you. Also ask the managment if they are allowed to have that many people living there. If this continues to be useless then take matters into your own hands. Call the health department to investigate the conditions, it doesn't seem right there are so many people living there. Or take your speakers and lay them on the ground turn up the volume as loud as you can, during normal hours of course, have a raging party with lots of people over. If the landlords are as flaky as they sound they won't listen to the noise complaint anyway. Then if all of that fails call the police. There are laws against that much noise and as a tenant you are obligated to a sound level that does not interrupt your life. If all of that still doesn't work write your landlord a formal certified letter and state that if they do not do something to control the noise you have legal rights to break the lease and move out. Then report them to the Attorney General or the better business beural. Good luck I know how it is to be annoyed!! Make sure you do some research on laws in your area and be protected!

Hope that helps

Call the police, she IS disturbing the peace.
That's against the law here in America.

This might make her mad but you could open your door and yell "keep it down please we are trying to sleep" You can call the police non emergency number and ask them what you can do to try to get them to settle down legally. You don't have to report them but the police might help with advise about what you can legally do and what times they have to be quiet. or invite her up to your apartment and have her listen to what it is like.
