I was flipping channels the other night when I saw Geraldo on Fox new. They were talking about the Shasta Groene case. Geraldo says that the kidnapper makes me so sick that I want to skin his body and take his organs out, he talked more about what he would do with the kidnappers body in a serial killer type way. Where is our media going here? These sensationalist reporters are going way too far. Isn't that completely unprofessional for a newsman to talk like that? Our media is becoming barbaric. This anything goes for sensationalism movie like journalism is like watching a fiction film. I saw a poll the other day that said people were getting more accurate news on South Park than they were getting on Fox News. Could you imagine a credible anchor saying something like that. Tom Brokaw saying he wants to skin the man and chop his organs up and feed them to crocodiles or something.

Absolutely not. It was unprofessional and completely unnecessary. I also agree that our media has to be revamped, and other than a couple of minutes of watching the local news and weather in the morning, I would rather listen to National and International Public Broadcasting radio. You get a much better balance of what is going on in the world, and some great viewpoints to be able to make more informed decisions or opinions.
Good question!

Next question might be - how can we influence the media to make our news more "real" and less slanted in either side of the political ring. I am SO tired of the Bush-Bashers, and Hilary-Haters!!

Geraldo has been saying SENSATIONAL comments now for over 35 years. In the last 20 years, he has progressively become more sensatinalist year by year. He just makes those flippant comments to add more shock to his show and to boost his image to the TV audience. He grew up in North Babylon, Long Island, and is actually a lawyer. Enough said.

It is an expression.
Just like when someone says in bar makes a comment like I am going to kill you.
It isn't literal.

As far as your poll goes I doubt it.

Funny how your example is Fox.

Tells me your liberal bias is showing through.

I was upset that CNN was showing our troops getting snipe from the view point of the terrorist and had no problem with airing it.
However, when lets say a Muslim is torturing or beheading someone they don't air so as not to upset Muslims.

Is that balance reporting.
