Does anybody have any ideas of what to do a class talk on for standard grade english. I am trying to obtain a grade one so it has to be substancial and, well, good.

Right people, i'm in a hurry; that means no time to read the dictionary (Where you would also find that the word is vocabulary, tut, "vocab"!)

The important thing is to choose a subject you're interested in,preferably an argument which has more than one point of view..eg..should prisons be more austere? Present both sides of the argument giving reasons..this will fill up the time and as it is a subject you are keen on, it will prevent those embarrassing..'um,...er....' pauses.

With respect, with describing words like "good" you ain't gonna get your grade one!! Read a dictionary before you do your talk, and i reckon you should talk about size 0, that subject is massive at the moment, there are so many different facts and points of views. Everyone in the class will have something to say on it. Or you could talk about politics and the world wars or you could do a talk on climate change. Its up to you, but use a wider range of vocab and it will sound better too! x Goodluck x

If i were you i would do a talk on a subject that you find interesting and comfortable to talk about, whether it be what goes on in the world today, your favourite pastime. If you are nervous about talking about a large topic, choose something that you have knowledge about, research your findings and all should go well.. You'll be fine and should sail through no bother...

when i had to do this talk i done a talk on zoo's given the positive and negitives about it and how i felt i also got other people in the class involved with their views then argued my pint with them
