I am generally a positive person, but feel really unhappy and discouraged right now. I know we all have these moments, but I want to be done with it. What do you do to pull yourself out of "woe is me land"?

I try to be thankful for things I do have...a loving family, my health, food in my belly and a warm bed to lay my head on at night. I try to think of the soldiers in Iraq and how much harder they have it than I do right now..and how I am sure they would love to trade places with anyone of us right now, no matter what our problem might be. Life is always going to throw you curves, it's how you deal with them that matters. Take your problems one at a time and remember that you are only human! : ) Cheer up sweetie! Enjoy your weekend!

You have answered your own question. You are generally a positive person that is felling unhappy. So, there it is. Sometimes you will feel sad, just like sometimes the sky is cloudy. Sometimes you will feel joy, just like the sky is blue. In other words, nothing is going to stay the same. As a matter of fact, why to you have to have a reason to feel sad? Do you need a reason to feel happy? We try so hard to avoid suffering, only to suffer for this more. Being sad is just that, being sad. You can either fight the unhappiness, or you can surrender to it, just as you surrender to your happiness... Come on, what if changed the question to. What makes you sad when life gets you up? I am generally a negative person, but feel really happy and enthusiastic right now. I know we all have these moments, but I want to be done with it. What do you do to pull yourself out of "my life is to good to be true land" .... Sounds funny to me...

At times like that I just try to focus on the positive things in my life. Knowing that there are always people more unfortunate than myself, I remind myself how fortunate I really am. Also I remind myself that what I am going through is only temporary and that when the storm clears, the clear view will be that much better. It helps if you have a friend you can talk to or go watch a funny movie. If you play sports or have favorite hobby, go do that...or start one. Do something you enjoy. Try to get your mind off of it. Or do something productive with that negative energy, like clean your room to get your mind off of it. Whatever you can do to get your mind off of it til the storm clears. Just don't rely on junk food, alcohol, or anything else that may harm your body or others. I generally find that listening to sad songs/music generally make it worse, so I'd stay away from that for awhile. Another thing you can do is charity work. This will help you realize how fortunate you are and will make you feel better knowing that you've helped those in need.
Keep your chin up and good luck!

Music makes me feel better....I've never really followed any given religion...music has sort of filled that aspect of my life. Listen to a CD you really love....it can be slow or peppy...i sometimes lie down, close my eyes, and listen to it in that state where you're almost totally asleep, but you can still hear the music...it's a nice feeling. If you have a significant other, or a good friend, call him/her and meet for lunch or dinner. If nothing else, write about how you feel on Yahoo answers, and maybe some of us can help you!

My hubby always makes me feel better, he gives the greates hugs and kisses ever! But when hes not around, CHOCOLATE and a nice warm bubble bath with candles and a glass of wine and your favorite music. I also like to go for a nice walk and get some fresh air, that always helps me too. Dont worry you will get out of this, I felt like that yesterday and I feel great today. I went and spent some time with friends. Pamper yourself!!

I try to get my mind on something else like a good movie or my favorite music. Honestly, my dogs can always make me laugh.
Try to lose your thoughts in a good book, movie, music or get out of the house for a while. Sometimes a change of scenery helps me to feel better, too.

what makes me happy when I'm down? I guess spending time with the people I love...I don't need to say I'm sad, i just spend time with them, watch a movie, eat ice cream..reminisce on our funny moments together...that makes me really happy...for at least i know that even if others put me down there will always be the people I love..they will be there no matter what...

You need to go to your friends and family to help cheer you up. I know that when I am feeling down my friends are always there to make me laugh. The best is looking at old pictures and just recapturing those moments.

I am also a positive person.
I can't recall the last time (if ever) I felt 'down.'
I generally consider everything a learning experience.
I've been shot at and missed, shot at and hit (flesh wound),
called stupid by dumb people and smart by brilliant people,
accomplished everything I ever tried, and look foreward to
seeing more of life.
The best thing is a positive attitude.

Go for a walk. In the trees if there are some nearby. Or, for short term solutions, go buy yourself something nice. Shoes for example.
