cant go wrong with business.........there are so many career possibilities within the business major like finance, accounting, marketing, IT, Mgmt, etc

if your analytical and good at math, i would say finance or accounting. If you dont like math and are creative and think outside the box, i would go with marketing or managment

Yes, everything worth doing is a lot of work - so pick something that seems fun to you! If you are curious about how people decide to do certain things, perhaps psychology would be good. If you are curious about how bridges are built, perhaps civil engineering would be good. If you want to know more about music, perhaps majoring in music would be good. Your major will determine what you do for the rest of your life, so it really should be something you think is fun. Then you get to have fun the rest of your life, instead of being trapped in some boring job that you hate. If you won the lottery, and didn't need the money, what would you do with your time? Once you figure that out, then just try to figure out a way to get people to pay you to do that, and you've got a career!

I was in that same place about a year ago. I will graduate from college in may and it is in general studies. Yeah to most people that sounds like a cop-out but i could not make myself decide on one career choice for the rest of my life. Business interested me but it wasn't something that i would enjoy doing as a career. Nursing, teaching, engineer, biology, etc. all interested me but the same thing. I wanted to do something that i enjoyed. All i kept hearing from people was that general studies will get you no where and that it was a lame excuse for a major. Well that is fine for them and if those other things make them happy them hooray for them. I wanted to be happy and know that what i did mattered to me and only me. I only have to answer and blame myself right. I still don't know what I want to do...or i take that back...i want so much out of life and want to try so many professions. I concentrated in the arts and sent off a resume to one of the largest aquariums in the country last week. I wouldn't think would hire me with a GS bachelor but I have an interview for sunday with them. All I can say is do what will make you happy. You are the only one that has to live with it and there are all kinds of jobs out there that are looking for people who know how to adapt to all kinds of situations. If you can do that then i think you will be fine. Good Luck in the future.

What I'd suggest is relax and don't decide. Continue college. Major in anything or just gen ed. Later, when you know, it's not hard to add courses to the foundation you already have and complete a new major.

It's harder to work hard when you don't have a specific career in mind. Instead picture the foundation you are laying for the building you will cap it off with later when you know.

If you wait until 40 to start college like I did. It's overwhelming to start from scratch, and you might not be fortunate enough to be able to take the risk.

just pick something broad. pick a broad major that you ccan do a lot with. some suggestoin : business, psych, liberal arts....think about what you are interested in. take elective classes, always take at least fun class that you might enjoy ( maybe art or journalism or whatever it is) and then decide from there. im sure you can always switch majors if anything. also get a BA since there are usually less credits required than BS. good luck!
