Of course! Hence my name! I have seen flits and flutters at the corner of my sight, but that was when I was much younger.

You hit the nail on the head with folklore. If you talk to some they can explain the mulit-dimension. I understand it more like a dream state, best I can describe it. On another dimension it could be true, but I don't know. I only know the dimension I live in. To say they exists. I doubt it. But I have heard that children are more able to see fairies if they are real. Something to do with being more open minded.

There are a lot of "eyewitness" reports -- but no evidence. Just like there are eyewitness reports of UFOs (but no evidence), of alien abductions (but no evidence), of seeing visions of god or mary or jesus or whatever (but no evidence)...
People imagine all kinds of things -- that doesn't make them real. You'd think after thousands of years of people claiming to see elves and fairies that they'd have left *some* kind of evidence if they were indeed real...but they haven't. No evidence = not real.
By the way, Martin Luther, the founder of the Lutheran church and of all protestantism, believed in fairies. He traipsed all over Europe chasing reports of them. What does that say for his credibility? :)

Peace.

I think they exist. I grew up with my Gram telling me all the Irish folklore. I think I saw a fairy when I was little but the memory has faded the older I have gotten.

Yes, indeed, elves and fairies do really exist. They have a wondrous rich life of their own in all the many many fairy tales and legends and in all possible stories about them that we may find around in the World.

Our actual "world" is sort of roundish, slightly oval, and we may metaforically think of it as of a sort of immense onion, so having many layers.

In one of these layers are we, with all our possibilities of understanding, of direct vision, of direct perception;

in another invisible layer are all the invisible things that we talk about, that we imagine, that we write tales of, that we read tales and stories about;

in several other layers surrounding us, and surrounding each other, above and beyond us, in yonder glowing imperscrutability, but still of "this" world, are uncountable dimensions and things that ever escape our perception - dimensions and things that we can't ever imagine of.

So, elves and fairies do really exist - our literature and our imagination is over-filled with the many ideas of them.

In my opinion, this Irish folklore is actually referring to the modern phenomenon of "shadow people". Shadow people are a sort of supernatural apparition that appears in places with a history of strong emotional stress, appearing as short (3 foot high) beings apparently cloaked in black, moving at very high speeds and quite erratically at times. They appear to have the ability to stop without slowing down, reversing direction instantaneously, as well as phasing through solid matter.

The Atlantic Paranormal Society has captured rather convincing footage of a Shadow Person while doing an investigation at the Eastern State Penitentary in Philadelphia. You can see this footage here: http://www.the-atlantic-paranormal-society.com/video/ESPhq.wmv

No they don't exist, and the only eyewitness's were drunks. I'd like "them" to prove the existence of that other dimension.

Very interesting question...
It's possible I'll give you that but like God it is something that was created by humans for humans. It's very possible that similar creatures exist on another planet, not so possible on this one though, I must admit from a none professional point of view I think they do exist inside the human mind, just like God, so if you believe it, it is true, otherwise it is just 'made-up'.

Eyewitness reports are dismissed out of hand as there is no concrete evidence (bones, artifacts, a signed letter).

I feel there is something out there, even if we do not understand or comprehend it
